Last I checked, it was with mixed comments, but
the positives have outweighed the negs. It all
depends on where you live. Tim may have some
input, but here?s my take on it:
For me in the N SFV, it's 5 minutes less time to
the GE now even though it's .39 miles longer as
the roads go. The reason, it no longer takes 6-8
minutes to get to the dock once off the fwy, only
about 30 seconds.
The other comments have been about the
availability of a quality restaurant staying open
late enough. There is an excellent quality fish
and chips type place at the new dock, but they
seem to close at 5 or 6 pm. The alternative...
Travel to one of the quality regional class
restaurants a mile or two away in the heart
of Long Beach's Pine Street District. If you don't
want that scene and desire something a bit more
'normal' (whatever that is in LB), travel a bit
further to the area where the locals eat, places
like the Long Beach Cafe.
The thing to remember is... there are more and
better quality places to eat within a mile or
two of the new dock, than within most all of the
San Pedro area... it's much more divers overall.
