I used the Mares MR.12 Nikos for the past two years, that is the cheapest one from Mares. I had never had any problem. I am not navy seal, I don't want dive deeper than 100, actually I set up my computer to alarm me when it reach 80! What is the point to dive so deep? Just make your dive shorter and colder?
Another innovation from Mares I really like is smaller sized the second stage, the new Proton is much smaller than the traditional reg, I like that idea and look to buy one in the near future.
Traditional diving gears was so complicated, so many configurations and combinations, the HUB was so nice designed to solve this issue, there always some flaws with new thing, should we reward the innovation, or stug in 1969? or last head to head in 1989?
Comment on Mares is a French company is just plain silly. I even don't want argue with that.
