In those situations, I think any regulator on the market will perform fine. For those doing non-recreational dives, the equipment requirements are more stringent and important. But how many really do those dives? For the rest of the great unwashed masses of divers, like me, the conventional dive gear works great. And besides dive gear doesn't kill people, panic, stupidity, and natural causes kill divers.
