Thanks for the additional info. I gather that when you talk about doing this in "the deep end of the pool," the depth is probably something on the order of 12 feet?
Getting mask and snorkel back on at depth has usually been pretty easy for me. The fins might be more interesting, depending on what type you're wearing. Also, making the second descent without a pair of fins on will burn some energy. Anyway, now that my curiosity is piqued I'll try this this week when I take my son swimming at the local pool.
