1. There are no commercial boats in Northern California. A few of us have inflatables, but shore diving is the basic fare. Calling our rocky entry sites "beaches" is stretching the term a bit!
2. In the last year, my totally unclaculated guesstimate is that 85% of my diving has been shore based.
