I talked to one of the instructors. When the instructors brought up the value of owning equipment during class they got the "here we go again all they want to do is sell." My understanding is that the sales clerk signing the students up initally, didn't want to lose the commission. So he did the hard sell up front. It was also brought up that some of the curriculum in the class had no real value except to enhance the selling of equipment.
