Once you have the interface you can use the map software with the pc. Topo has fairly descent map software. The amount of money you spend is dependent on how much area you want to see. If you just want to see a local area then you are probably looking at about $200 above the cost of the gps without interface. My interface was 100 bucks. I spent about 100 on software.
