If you're looking for something to make your diving more challenging, I second the suggestions to take up photography. Start out with an inexpensive camera.
If you really have to hunt, then I would strongly recommend freediving. At least make it a challenge -- most spearfishers I see are about as close to hunting as shooting a cow with a .38.
