Reef Seekers in Beverly Hills and Scuba Toys in Cypress are Halcyon dealers, which IMO makes the best backplate and wing on the market. Scuba Toys will let you rent a rig and Reef Seekers may also.
Reef Seekers is also a DUI dealer, as are a lot of other local shops. DUI makes some good entry level suits which are a good option if you fit into their stock sizes. Custom dry suits are nice but bump the price up. There are a lot of other brands of suit out there now and the prices have gone down and the quality has gone up so it pays to shop around.
www.aquaflite.com and www.jmjwetsuits.com are two sources for wetsuits. Google for "custom wetsuits" will yield a ton of sites.
