When you go on the boat approach the DM and explain you are a new diver and you need a buddy. You can try to buddy up yourself. The best thing is to find another diver that is more advanced, so you have some one that is capable of watching out for you, however not all of us are so eager to do that. If you choose to dive with anybody that will dive with you, just remember this person may or may not be some one I wish to be diving with, it is the chance you take. The best thing to do is find a shop or club you can dive with where you no who you are diving with.
