If only SERIOUS STUDENT DIVERS were taught, we would have a very few divers in our area. This would kill off our dive industry and we would not have the many fine boats and shops we enjoy.
There is a market for non-serious divers and PADI has clearly lead the charge in enabling them to become divers. Bad for us because it strips away the macho image we all desire. Good for us because we all reap the benefits of a healthy dive industry. Good for them because these people get to experience diving our ocean.
