Current events that have mass attention are in many cases left up. For example, the horrific event last September caused several unrelated posts to CA diving to remain. If you feel strongly that current events regardless of their mass appeal should be removed then support your viewpoint with a poll, vote, signature campaign, money or whatever.
The Washington post remains for two reasons. One, the diving is very similar to CA diving. Two, I posted an example of how to relate it to CA diving as an example of how to post within the guidelines. If we get too many Washington posts then we might have to tighten the ropes.
Right now I don't see it as a problem. You are welcome to persuade us otherwise.
