Take me for example, my IP address will be one of a few AOL proxy servers. Even if I use IE through my DSL provider at home, the IP will just be a PacTel proxy server and it can change every time I switch on the computer.

I would vote for name and password signup for posting priviledges. Then you would have to put up an email address where the initial password gets sent, a real name that is optionally published, etc. Kinda like I did to get my free email boxes such as the divemail.com one I use here!

Even the most outspoken posters around such as MHK have always been up front about who they are and how to reach them off the board. It shows a committment to their beliefs and opinions. In my eyes it always adds to the respect level.
