Here is a funny creature, Tethy's Vagina. It is a salp, and a whole bunch of them washed up dead at Cabrillo Beach. My daughters and I had a blast cracking bawdy jokes whilst collecting four six inchers. We ran it by her HS marine biology teachers house.

Imagine the stories told at school the next day.

But try to look it up on the internet... The V word takes you to anywhere but marine biology. When you get done, try this...

http://tolweb.org/tree/eukaryotes/animals/mollusca/cephalopoda/coleoidea/octopodiformes/octopoda/incirrata/argonautoid_families/ocythoidae/ocythoeLichen/ocythoeSalpLichen/OcythoeSalp.html

Or go to Google and look up "Tethys salp"

These things grow big enough for divers to get into.
Yea Yea.... I mean swim into.

Funny creature... When you hold one you say "OK, I see why the name." All jokes aside, here is one fish where even the most agnostic diver quips "What was God a thinkin'?"

Any one seen them alive? (the follow up posts are gonna hurt)

Jeff
