Jane: Although I do most of my boat diving with an AL80 tank, on beach dives, I prefer an AL63. It is shorter, more compact, and I find that it gives me a much better center of gravity for long walks or surf entries. Since most of my beach dives are relatively shallow ( < 40 fsw ), I don't think I'm giving up all that much bottom time, as an AL63 can last me a long time under these circumstances (fast/efficient/no-stress surf entry, and a shallow dive).
