I've had OW and AOW from PADI, I later found out that the first instructor did things considered risky or improper by many, something I learned later on. At the time I liked him because he did seem very knowledgable. The second instructor taught what I consider to be absolutely NOTHING. Too busy gold diggin I suppose.
Needless to say I will do some heavy inquiring when I take my next class, demanding to know exactly what will be covered and whether he/she can provide what I expect from the class.
By the way on that first dive vis was about 8 ft. max. He did keep me right by his side. Call me crazy but I absolutely loved it - swimming under water with the fish. I had a big smile on face upon exiting and gave him a big high five.
I now know better, and can relate to all the horror stories out there about unqualified instructors. Apparently this is a significant number of the total.
