Brad, wow, cool picture of the electric ray! On the freediver email list there was a post yesterday from a guy in New Zealand who saw some sort of "sharky/raylike thing, maybe a skate" on a swim and (obviously too impetuously) grabbed its tail -- only to get hit with a shock that told him what it was.

If it's any consolation re the seabass pictures, I just got back from 11 days in Kauai but was generally disappointed with the pictures due to not-quite-tropics-quality vis in my opinion (average about 25 ft). But I saw spinner dolphins, monk seals, turtles, trumpetfish, cornetfish, a medium-small black seabass, all kinds of other colorful reef fish, a couple of crown-of-thorn stars and other neat stuff. The highlight of the trip for my son was spying a "Christmas tree fish" (i.e. a Christmas wrasse) while snorkeling.

This weekend I'll be diving at Catalina (had to get a local reference in here to make the message meet the BBS criteria!).
