Eins, you are probably right. I have seen the discounters, the department store dive centers and the net suck the life’s blood out my business and many others. I have seen our instructional credo go from how “much can you teach” to “how little and how quick”.
I see a clueless diving public who only cares about price. .
But I also still can see the look of wonder from our students after their first OW dive. I still see an ocean , that is still alive. And I see a movement is our industry that is trying educate the diving public about the need for real instruction, and the need for better life support equipment, and the need for a better configuration.
I’m I bitter, Yea I’m bitter. SC just pisses me off. From the time when they opened up the HB store and stole my manager and my mailing list (they did this to other stores in the area to) to now. They are a bunch of part-timers and they shouldn’t be in the dive business.
