Diving Anacapa island, July 2002. Arrived near keyhole rock. Anchored boat in cove. Put up DIVER DOWN flag. Park ranger comes blasting up to my boat in twin outboard boat. Reason for drastic violation of safety rules and possibly maritime law:
"just wanted to let you know, crustacean gathering is prohibited here"
Save a clam, kill a diver.
Next time I am going to get photos. Nice picture of flag in forground, twin diver shredders in background.
BTW, sailboat followed me from nearby location and no doubt radioed the ranger.
