I've only used a p-valve and it works great.
It's a little more expensive than the diapers but it's a one-time purchase. Easy to install if you follow the instructions.
One tip: buy the Rochester Med catheters and the special swabs to remove the adhesive afterward. Much less hassle, much more comfortable.
