BTW, an interesting exercise, is to remove your
mask, and do an ascent. Obviously, this is
something you do when you are fresh, not
saturated, have the right (calm, not too deep)
site, and a good buddy.
What I learned from the exercise:
I can see well enough to monitor my ascent rate
by watching the kelp.
I can't see squat on the guages.
I got an ice cream headache from the cold water
(49F, IIRC) on my face.
