Please reread the whole post. I pointed out what happens when you increase the ditchable percentage using the PST 80 by eliminating the plate and adding to the belt. The net weight change is zero, as needs be. If the wet steel is weighted properly, the advantage of the AL buoyancy characteristics, in this example, goes away. That's not always the case, however.

I was talking about the PST LP 80, which is listed as weighing 32 lbs empty. The Luxfer is listed at 31 lbs empty. Since total ballast, tank, plate, belt, etc. is basically the same, I'm not sure where it becomes easier to hike up and down with one versus the other.
