They probably are excessive, Bob. A straight Boyle approach ignores different compressibility factors amongst types of neoprene as well as structural rigidity. Other than empirically testing, however, I don't know another way to come up with a number, so I took the ham fisted approach.

Regardless, the differential in wing failure mode is the basis of the advantage, not the specific number.
