I sat and read the "owners mannuel" once for a watch rated to 100m. The depth rating for water "resistant" notice they don't say water proof, watches is a "static" rating, not dynamic. That means the watch will resist water at that depth, if nothing is moving. So if you move you arm as in swimming, then that is a dynamic force. The manuel went on to say that the watch was rated at 1/3 of the depth for dynamic forces. Real Dive watches should be water proof down to a specific dynamic depth.
