In was a few ago now, but I once did a project for school which involved testing water samples from various places along the Southern California coastline. One of the test involved placing water in a test tube with a chemical that turned the water a purplish color if there was fecal matter detacted. While several samples turn a light purple or light pink, the two samples from Mission Bay were the only two test tubes to turn a deep purple almost immediaitely. All I can say is STAY AWAY!! Urhcins, scallops or fish should all probably be avoided. I cringe everytime I see people jet skiing or swimming in that cess pool they call a bay.
