The truth is a bit more complicated than simply rich movie moguls trying to keep out everybody else. The beach Geffen lives on, Carbon, is open to the public already. I'm not defending Geffen, he made a deal and now he wants to renege, but the summary you provided leaves out many salient facts. The Coastal Commission has been at war with Malibu for decades and it's not a simple matter.
