Yes, I consider humans an "apex preditor". If people were hunting sea lions to eat and to utilize their skins for clothing, that would be one thing. But we're talking about killing them for fun and profit - a very "unnatural" thing indeed, and quite different from how and why humans hunted hundreds of years ago. Remember, it wasn't until the Spanish, and later the Russians, arrived in California that most marine mammals in this state were hunted to the brink of extinction.
