Thanks for presenting what is increasingly becoming "politically incorrect" for what it is, a SPORT that we pay license fees to participate in. You are entitled to your legal catch for you and your family to consume and to be proud of the fact that you managed to collect it yourself.
On the up side, DFG doesn't seem to think the lobster fishery is threatened at this time. The permit holders (lobster trappers) don't like the current status of permits (250 I believe) and would like to see it lowered to 150 as memory serves me. That would allow for a smaller number of trappers to gather more lobsters per permit and make more money in theory without increased damage to the fishery.
No decision from DFG at this time on the issue.
