I forgot to say that if you want to tailor your own trip in the San Diego area, check out www.hydrodiver.com.
It is a six-pack operation and will go where you want locally and it's a great boat. This might be a good option for a newer diver who doesn't want to feel pressured in keeping up with the crowd on a larger boat.
