Another thing I heard about Malaria on my travels. I met a photographer for National Geographic who told me that she didn't take anti-malarials because it was not a guarantee preventative, and if she gets malaria while on the anti-malarials it becomes much harder for doctors to diagnose. Apparently the symptoms of malaria (with anti-malarials) are too similar to the flu.
