In the wake of the DFG Commissions final decision on the Northern Channel Islands Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), there has been a lot of traffic on this web page about closures. And a lot of that traffic
contains incorrect assumptions, erroneous information, and outright prejudice and bias. Well folks, here's an opportunity to get the information directly from the guy that represents our diving community on the
DFG's "users group" that is helping to put together recommendations for local MPAs.
On Tuesday, November 5th, diving community representative John Moore will lead a discussion about the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) at the Sea Divers monthly meeting. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.
at Roundtable Pizza, 4330 Redondo Beach Blvd (west of the 405 and east of Hawthorne Blvd.). A map can be found here: http://SeaDivers.org/meetings.htm
John will be soliciting comments and input, which is much more than a lot of the other representatives seem to be doing. So please treat him with courtesy and respect, he is driving up all the way from San Diego
just to be at this meeting.
Please show up if you want to find out what is being proposed for closure, or if you want your opinion to be heard. This is your opportunity to find out what is going on with MPA proposals in Southern California.
