...at people is highly illegal. It's against the law to use a weapon even in "self-defense" with very few (almost no) exceptions. Here in the state of California you cannot use a gun to stop someone from committing a burglary, robbery, or theft, be it your car, your home, or your lobster traps.
The state of California does not like it when citizens protect themselves and it puts a higher value on the criminals life than any property you might lose.
