The North Coast would have the same liveaboard
problem that Monterey has: There's no place
to hide at night. The PacStar ended up spending
nights in Monterey harbor and is now a SoCal
boat -- there's a message there.

In SoCal, the islands (almost) always have a lee
side to hide on.

Betweem weather and Sharks, you can only do the
Farallons a couple of months a year, and I'm not
sure there's enough demand for that. The PacStar
would run Farallons trips a couple of weeks a
year, and would fill them, just. So Farallons
would be a plus, not bread and butter. And I
heard Patriot, while still running shark trips
there, stopped running dive trips due to lack
of demand.

You should ask this on

Lot's more bay area divers there.

There plenty of bacteria etc. in the water after
a rain up there -- all those cows! ;-)
