As of Tuesday November 12, 2002 the number to the Los Angeles County Medical Alert Center (MAC) changed to:
323-869-0578 (then press 8 for a hyperbaric or scuba emergency)
The old number will continue to work for a while, and will refer you to the new number. However, if you have the MAC number in your Emergency Action Plan (or on speed dial) you should change it to the new number.
