and I quote "Snorkeling is for old people on cruise ships." If I wanted to snorkel I would go snorkeling. However, since I am scuba diving, I get to actually go beneath the surface for a longer period of time. The only time I am at the surface and swimming is if I lost the boat. And that has to happen only once before you realize its a crummy thing. However, here's why not wearing a snorkel is streamlining. Go dive Florida. They have a thing there called the gulfstream. You can actually feel the water wobble your snorkel, which isn't very comfy on the mask. Even at Shaw's Cove, CA the surge will move it around and you can feel it wobbling. I agree it's added safety to have one, but not wearing one isn't about what's cool, or fashion. It's just about keeping your mask on your face with current conditions.
