Dove the Redondo canyon with an aquaintance and their newbie friend. This was Newbied ffirst post cert dive, and the sun has gone down. There are infrequent but well timed 2 foot waves.
Poor newbie was sloshed around like a sock in the Maytag.
They had no go under the wave, not through it skills from bodysurfing 101. The center of gravity tank control was ghastley.
It all reminded me of helpless kelp in thr surf.
Yes this is a tough dive for the newbie. I now WHOLEY agree with Ken's approach.
