Hi Guys,
Beth and I dove Christmas Tree Cove with Don & Lisa today. Vis was about 15ft near shore due to some sort of stringy algae suspended in the water. Vis opened up to 30 ft once we got about half way out in the cove. Christmas Tree rarely fails to be a wonderful dive. Today was no exception. We saw lots of fish, lobster, and Spanish Shawl nudibranchs. Don saw a harbor seal and I saw a big bat ray. I've seen a bat ray in the same spot out there several times so I know where he hangs out. In the middle of the cove, about 50 yards offshore, the bottom transitions from boulders to brown pea gravel. The pea gravel has the occasional kelp stalk growing in it. You can usually find the bat ray hanging out somehwere in the pea gravel. The temp was a warm 63F on top and 59F on the bottom. Beach diving ROCKS!

Side note:
Steve & I did Sapphire St (near Vets Park in Redondo Beach) last Tue night and noticed a few clusters of squid eggs. They should be coming by the millions really soon now.
