James Cameron's Expedition: Bismarck
120 min.
Director James Cameron, famous for a film about another sunken ship, travels again to the frigid North Atlantic.
The DKM Bismarck was nearly as large as the Titanic, and much faster. It was heavily fortified bristled with armaments, and yet the British Navy found a way to sink it in 1941---but exactly how has remained a mystery. Using underwater technology and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Cameron and his brother Mike are able to explore the vessel, which lies 15,780 feet under the sea, through a torpedo hole in its hull to determine what ultimately sent it to its watery grave. Cameron brings with him two German veterans of the Bismarck to confirm his observations, and he also interviews other vets in Hamburg. (VCR Plus+ 273392)
