We're heading out there on the 18th of January on our dive shop charter. There's a lot of great dive boats that go out to Catalina from the mainland. The boats from Catalina are a bit more expensive as you may imagine. Its a great place to dive - you'll love it!!
Oh ... isn't El Nino going to dump 82 deg water in our backyard? ;) Bring a dry suit or a two-piece ... and a parka to keep warm between dives if you have one.
