Can you say anything more about the purple urchin (Strongelocentrotus purperatus) being non-native? I had never heard that. Do you know where they are from and when?
I just looked through my copy of between Pacific Tides - Ricketts and Calvin, and there was no suggestion of thier introduction. There even was a comment about there burrowing being a question for over 100 years.
