Version #1 is believeable enough but the poster who claims that urchins can multiply by growing back from broken or smashed appendages I don't believe. Maxbottomtimes mention that his ex-wife would weed her garden by thinning out the urchins with a hammer was probably on the right track, albeit the wrong method, if your theory is correct. Certainly any urchins munching on holdfast need to be removed or one by one slowly fed to the fishes, IMO. What do you think about that?
