A few days ago I made a post about DM's and their legal role about diving. I have to admit, it was one sided. I always knew the legal side of this. I wanted though…….to hear what the diving community had to say about this. The response was very good, and enlightening.
As I posted yesterday Ken, of Reef Seekers, and I had a long talk about the incident. I purposely did not say what it was about, so Ken could, or could not defend himself. I have also called all my crew to see what they had to say about the incident.
I did not know that the diver in question was the same one that I sent the chase boat after. I also watched the two divers and saw that they did not have a clue. They were on the surface, made no attempt to give an ok, did not swim toward the boat, and deffinatly, did not swim under any kelp, to use up any air. The breakdown here was no communication to me. But, Ken and his DM's were perfectly in their right to tell this person he was done.
Welcome to the life and times on Dive Charter Vessels in California.
