The wind waves, AND (significantly important) is the swell and wave period. A large swell with a large (spread out) period will be much more comfortable than a significantly smaller wave height at short intervals.
That said.... it does look pretty rough!
However, it looks like beach diving at a west-facing beach might be a possibility.
