Skin-in is definitely warmer, and these new slippery skins, like oceanliner, are just incredible. Just got an aquaflite oceanliner 3 mil, and now I can't wait for my 7 mil to wear out. Really easy to get on, really fast to dry (doesn't stink), warm, stretchy, just great.
