1280x1024 which is full screen for a high resolution monitor is 1.31 MP.
1600x1200 which is the hishest resolution you will see on monst monitors is 1.92 MP
A 2 MP picture will make a very nice 8x10 picture for a frame.
The MP resolution of most digital cameras these days is more than good enough except for very demanding profesional applications.
The more importanant features are the abitlity to focus in low light, cost of the housing, and flash compatability.
I bought a Olympus d-40 ($400) last october and an olympus housing($300) , plus an olympus wide angle lens($400). I also bought a uncaoted filter ($28) to protect the lends port on the housing. So far, becasue it is bug season I have only used the camera once, with ok results: pictures
Thw picutres you click on are reduced down to 1.3MP from the 4MP the camera takes.
I have not used the Cannon, but results should be similar.
