What luck, you two happened to be at the same place at the same time! I have never seen a Blue in the water, but i have swam with Soupfins a few times. I remember in the mid 80's you would see anywhere from 10-50 fins on the surface in nice weather every trip to Catalina. They were subsequently decimated by fishermen who considered them a nuisance. Now i see one fin every couple thousand miles or so....

I agree with you about the MPLA's. Within a few short years of their establishment, we will all see the benefits of protecting valuable habitat. The reserves will have a positive systemic effect on the total marine environment, including species that do not live within the reserves themselves.

It warms my heart to read your posts, knowing that you love the sea for beauty rather than the bounty~
