I don't have a windlass on my boat, so to me buddy diving meant having someone help pull the anchor after the dive. I have a heavy Bruce anchor and about fifty feet of heavy chain. After a deep dive, it was exhausting to pull up the rode. Finally, after about eleven years of diving from my own boat it dawned on me. If I attach a liftbag to the anchor at the end of the dive and add just enough air to lift the anchor a few feet off the bottom it makes the post-dive duties much easier. Usually the liftbag gets to the surface before I even get to the chain.
I don't do this in strong current/winds or if there are hazards such as rocks or other boats in the area.
