I found this on the other board. It would be neet if we could get some more wrecks out here somewhere. I'm not a wreck nut, but I enjoyed the Yukon and the Ruby E is beautiful.

There's a press release from the Federal Maritime Administration (MARAD) announcing a program to use MARAD funds, which would othewise be used for ship disposal (scrapping, I guess) for cleaning and giving to states surplus vessels for use as artificial reefs. The link for the press release (sorry, I don't know how to make links turn blue) is Everything at Marad usually moves glacially, but this is good news eventually for divers because they have many, many surplus ships, even some WW2-era Victory ships still sitting and rusting in the mothball fleet. The press release mentions only one Marad ship had been "reefed" so far, that must be the Speigel Grove.
