I found this on the other board. It would be neet if we could get some more wrecks out here somewhere. I'm not a wreck nut, but I enjoyed the Yukon and the Ruby E is beautiful.

There's a press release from the Federal Maritime Administration (MARAD) announcing a program to use MARAD funds, which would othewise be used for ship disposal (scrapping, I guess) for cleaning and giving to states surplus vessels for use as artificial reefs. The link for the press release (sorry, I don't know how to make links turn blue) is http://www.dot.gov/affairs/marad0503.htm Everything at Marad usually moves glacially, but this is good news eventually for divers because they have many, many surplus ships, even some WW2-era Victory ships still sitting and rusting in the mothball fleet. The press release mentions only one Marad ship had been "reefed" so far, that must be the Speigel Grove.
