On the issue of aquaculture, the potential ecological problems have been fairly well substantiated and publicized. Some countries in which aquaculture programs were adopted early are now restricting or removing them due to the ecological impacts of artificially concentrated food and waste products as well as easy transmission of diseases in high density populations. There is also concern over the growth hormones and other additives included in the food.
