The Sea Divers are going to Santa Barbara Island this Saturday on the Great Escape
As most of you experienced divers know, Santa Barbara Island diving provides some of the very best in underwater topography, marine life, and generally high visibility. Sea lions abound and are always ready to "play". We normally do not dive the rookery because the sea lions are seen on just about any dive around the island. We also see Black sea bass on numerous occasions and relatively large rays, and blue sharks. The reefs are ideal for photography or just looking. Typically we will circumnavigate this relatively small island to pick off four choice spots. Some of our favorites are Hidden Reef, Brittle Star Reef, the Boilers and Sutil Island.
For the game takers there are a variety of fish and scallops. Diving conditions in Winter can be pleasant. This dive is suitable for all skill levels. Beginners should check with the divemaster to ascertain the specifics of each dive. Great Escape is one of the largest dive boats in the L.A. area and provides an extremely comfortable diving platform. The "verandah" (a.k.a. sun deck) also provides for sun and relaxation on the ride home.
For reservations to join the Sea Divers on this great trip call Skylor at (714) 377-8044 or E-mail him at reservations@SeaDivers.org . Great diving!!
